Marassi/Shifting Sand
These are photographs of an otherworldly, fantasy resort being built from scratch on the north coast of Egypt. They show a grinding inversion of desert and harsh coastline to create lagoons, luscious gardens, swimming pools, golf courses, etc. Photographed at various stages of development, the architecture and planning hasn’t yet fully masked its harsh underbelly. The buildings and landscaping, exposed in the hard light and blank surroundings, present a sketchy coming together of an ideal.
