The region has transformed itself in a matter of decades, through an unprecedented streamlined environmental and social shift, to immediately put itself on the global map. A huge resource hungry inversion of an arid landscape to fragile financial and cultural ideals.
The photographs progress from vast resource hungry construction projects, workers exposed in the hard light and blank surroundings, through extravagant architecture, to opulent cities and the people who maintain and occupy them.
